The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), as amended, requires all officers serving on board Maltese Registered ships to hold an appropriate and valid certificate in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned Convention.
At an initial stage, applicants will be issued with a provisional registration valid for 6 months. This provisional registration, which may be extended by a further period of 6 months, has the same effect of a permanent registration.
However, permanent registration shall only be granted once the Authorities are satisfied that the vessel is in conformity with all relevant international conventions.
To be able to apply for an application for the endorsement of these certificates the documents listed below must be provided by our clients:
Copy of certificate of competence and endorsement attesting the issue of the certificate
Copy of GMDSS certificate (when a GMDSS certificate is required)
Copy of the chemical, gas or oil tanker training certificate (as the case may be), copy of the familiarization course completion certificate (when a chemical, gas or oil tanker endorsement is required)
Copy of a valid Passport or Seaman’s Record Book or official Identity Card (proof of identification of applicant)
One passport size colour photo of applicant (jpeg format is transmitted electronically)
Copy of a valid Medical Fitness Certificate issued in accordance with the ILO Convention 73 and STCW 78 as amended.
